Design Contractor Planning Senior Specialist

Location: Fullerton, California, US; hybrid work with required reporting to an SCE facility, and employees are generally required to work and reside in California. The primary location is the Fullerton Service Center, with possible extended assignments at alternate locations and up to 25% travel throughout the SCE service territory.

What you will do

• Prepare and oversee complex electrical designs for internal organizations and design contract partners.
• Conduct long-term grid import planning, transmission interconnection assessments, power flow studies, and economic analyses.
• Develop distribution facility plans, construction options, resource requirements, cost estimates, work orders, and construction plans.
• Manage large design projects from inception through construction completion, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, standards, rates, and schedules.
• Perform field inspections, assess regional distribution system capabilities, and verify compliance with approved plans and planning criteria.
• Mentor Planning Associates and Designers, coordinate internal stakeholders and contractors, and support workload management and training.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission, telecommunications design or construction, or an engineering discipline.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License required.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Utility Design, SPIDA, or other pole-loading programs.
• Experience defining work scope, service methods, construction methods, distribution work orders, construction plans, or engineered civil drawings.
• Must work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.

• Experience managing multiple or sensitive projects under tight time constraints and shifting priorities.
• Experience leading the design and implementation of design projects.
• Strong customer relationship, planning, influencing, anticipation, and communication skills.
