Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Oak Ridge, TN — 5 days in office; working hours are 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday.

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and review electrical auxiliaries, distribution systems, interconnections, services, and specialty systems.
• Prepare electrical deliverables including single-line diagrams, calculations, schematics, load lists, panel-board and MCC schedules, layouts, grounding drawings, and communications documentation.
• Size electrical distribution equipment and cabling, and work with industrial motors, motor drives, protective relaying, and metering.
• Establish high-voltage interconnections with utility partners and coordinate electrical interfaces with system, design, and other engineering disciplines.
• Develop equipment specifications, data sheets, design packages, reports, and calculations for client delivery.
• Support requirements decomposition, interface management, project planning, scheduling, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program with coursework focused on power systems, or an appropriate professional engineering license.
• Typically 15 years of experience in a functional engineering role.
• Ability to independently lead core engineering tasks, exercise engineering judgment, and mentor junior team members.
• Experience with electrical and instrumentation/control concepts, process engineering interfaces, and design review.
• Working knowledge of SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant Review, AutoCAD, ETAP, and Microsoft Office.
