Subtransmission System Planning Senior Engineering Manager

Location: Hybrid in Pomona, California; employees are required to work and reside in California. The role requires up to 10% travel throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation may apply.

Salary: $182,800–$274,100 per year

What you will do

• Lead subtransmission system planning assessments covering generator interconnection, load interconnection, and reliability studies.
• Develop grid strategies and guide how the electric system is planned, designed, operated, and maintained.
• Manage engineering roadmaps, project engineering teams, resource allocation, budgets, risks, and delivery performance.
• Implement project management frameworks and coordinate small- to large-scale capital and strategic projects.
• Drive digitalization and automation to improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
• Lead cross-organizational technology, safety, and risk-management initiatives while securing stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience supervising direct reports and/or managing projects.
• Engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• At least five years of electric utility experience focused on transmission, subtransmission, or distribution system modeling or planning.
• Experience with FERC and CPUC regulatory policies, tariffs, and stakeholder impacts.
• Experience with power system analysis tools such as PSLF, PSCAD, EMS, CYME, CAPE, or MDI.
• Must work and reside in California; the hybrid schedule requires reporting to an SCE facility on set days.

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a similar discipline.
• Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience collaborating with clients, project personnel, peers, and enterprise-wide management.
