Senior Substation Project Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakland, California, with the assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory

Annual salary: $153,828–$197,628

What you will do

• Manage large, complex electric engineering projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and conceptual design.
• Lead, coach, and provide technical direction to engineers, technical employees, and project teams.
• Finalize contract project specifications and evaluate technical bids from contractors.
• Support land, permitting, and legal matters related to engineering projects.
• Resolve complex technical problems and develop creative or non-standard engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, public agencies, clients, project teams, and company management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited US program or equivalent international qualification.
• At least 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and design.
• Senior-level mastery of journey engineer duties and the ability to work independently under general direction.
• Ability to interpret industry practices and codes, deliver presentations, and lead team meetings.
• Ability to work from the remote office and assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory based on business need.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple large-scale, large-budget electric substation projects.
• Experience in substation engineering.
• Project management skills.
• Current California PE license.
