TL;DR
Water Management Program, Environmental Science Advisor (Environmental Science): Leading SCE’s drinking water and well management program while supporting industrial wastewater and facility stormwater compliance with an accent on permitting, water quality monitoring, regulatory reporting, and agency coordination. Focus on assessing environmental risks, conducting inspections, managing contractors, and implementing compliance programs across SCE facilities.

Location: Rosemead, California, US; hybrid work mode with required residence and work in California. Up to 15% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation does not apply to this position.

Salary: $129,200–$193,700 per year

What you will do

  • Lead and provide strategic direction for the Drinking Water and Well Management Program.
  • Support industrial wastewater and facility stormwater compliance programs.
  • Develop and improve compliance processes, standards, procedures, training, and operational plans.
  • Assess environmental risks and implement mitigation programs.
  • Conduct environmental inspections and self-assessments while maintaining compliance records.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, internal partners, and contractors; prepare reports and studies for regulatory submission.

Requirements

  • At least seven years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or a related field.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Experience with drinking water and groundwater well compliance, including permitting, reporting, monitoring, and operational oversight.
  • Knowledge of DDW requirements, AWWA standards, backflow prevention, cross-connection control, groundwater management, and water system operations.
  • Experience with industrial wastewater, facility stormwater, and NPDES compliance under the Clean Water Act.
  • Ability to coordinate inspections, technical reports, regulatory responses, and permit compliance with agencies such as DDW and RWQCB.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience preparing DDW Annual Reports and Consumer Confidence Reports.
  • Experience with post-construction stormwater requirements, including LID, WQMP, and SUSMP.
