Senior Engineer 1, Metro East Field Engineering

Location: Pomona, California, US. Hybrid work requires reporting to an SCE facility on designated days, and employees are generally required to work and reside in California. The role includes up to 50% travel throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year.

What you will do

• Lead engineering execution and provide technical guidance to engineers, planners, and district personnel.
• Oversee equipment diagnostics, monitoring, inspections, and evaluations of grid technologies.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, project updates, findings, and recommendations.
• Coordinate cross-functional development and implementation of future technologies and asset performance strategies.
• Support equipment installation and startup, handover to ramp and sustaining phases, and distribution-system threat investigations.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate engineering training and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematical field.
• Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Must generally work and reside in California and be able to report to the Pomona facility in a hybrid work arrangement.
• Must pass a NERC/CIP Personnel Risk Assessment or Background Investigation and complete required training before receiving unescorted access.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a power emphasis.
• Advanced proficiency with CYME, MDI, Excel, and Snowflake SQL querying.
• Knowledge of distribution substation planning, including profile cleansing, temperature normalization, and load growth allocation.
• Experience integrating Distributed Energy Resources into the grid.
• Strong technical communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
