Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year

What you will do
- Support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of hydroelectric facilities through diagnostics, monitoring, inspections, and engineering analyses.
- Lead failure investigations and root-cause analyses using forced-outage data and performance trends.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, documentation, findings, and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on future technologies, asset performance management, grid strategies, procedures, and design recommendations.
- Support equipment installation and startup, then lead handover into ramp and sustaining phases.
- Lead junior engineers, facilitate knowledge transfer, and support training and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematical field.
- Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
- Valid Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to work on-site in Big Creek, California, with field work and up to 40% travel.
- Successful completion of a Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation is required before hiring; specified training is required before unescorted site access.
- Ability to drive and traverse uneven surfaces, sit or stand for extended periods, and work in remote weather conditions.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and seven or more years of progressively responsible plant engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Experience with power generation, especially hydroelectric facilities.
- Experience managing mechanical asset or system projects, including installation, commissioning, lifecycle support, and capital project cost estimation.
- Familiarity with asset management programs and plant performance optimization.
