Construction Advisor – Generation Major Projects

Location: Big Creek, California, US. Hybrid work with reporting to an SCE facility on set days and remote work on remaining days; employees are generally required to work and reside in California. Up to 60% field travel throughout the Big Creek Hydroelectric System. Relocation may apply.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year.

What you will do

• Provide owner-side constructability, execution-risk, and field-readiness input across major generation projects.
• Manage contractor scopes, costs, schedules, construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Maintain and enforce onsite safety and environmental policies during active construction.
• Review contractor progress reports and prepare field, weekly, and final construction documentation.
• Manage field change orders and coordinate quality-control activities, third-party inspections, and QC inspection plans.
• Act as the primary onsite coordination point between construction contractors, project teams, engineers, and third-party stakeholders through commissioning and closeout.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of experience managing construction methods, materials, and equipment and applying construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting field conditions, escalating risks, and preparing status updates.
• Ability to work independently in remote field environments and regulated utility construction areas with access, outage, environmental, or operational constraints.
• Successful candidates must pass a NERC/CIP-related Personnel Risk Assessment or Background Investigation and complete required training before receiving unescorted site access.

Nice to have

• Cal/OSHA 30 certification and experience overseeing contractor safety.
• Quality assurance and quality control experience, including construction testing, inspections, and documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline, or PMP certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other field documentation and communication technologies.
