Government Relations Manager/Public Affairs Advisor

Location: Rosemead, California, US; hybrid work mode with required residence and work in California. Up to 20% travel within the SCE service area. The role requires readiness to report in person to Irwindale during emergency activations. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and implement engagement plans supporting policy and infrastructure project outcomes in the San Gabriel Valley and broader Los Angeles region.
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, government staff, associations, community leaders, and business coalitions.
• Prepare policy content, correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and communications for internal stakeholders and senior management.
• Coordinate stakeholder education, customer feedback, advocacy messaging, and approaches to mitigate reputation and brand risks.
• Support industry lobbying coalitions and streamline administrative processes within the Government Affairs office.
• Participate in the Incident Management Team, including rotating on-call coverage, emergency response, business continuity, and extended shifts when activated.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or community relations.
• Experience engaging stakeholders and developing community engagement plans.
• Strong strategic, analytical, planning, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to analyze issues and present clear, concise, and persuasive recommendations to senior management.
• Ability to work and reside in California and report to an SCE facility under the hybrid work arrangement.
• Availability for rotating on-call duty approximately every four to six weeks and emergency work during evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Business, or a related field.
• Experience with local governments and agencies in the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles, or Los Angeles County.
• Experience managing candidate, ballot measure, or issue advocacy campaigns.
• Experience with infrastructure and public outreach activities or work in the energy industry.
• Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with partners to build stakeholder support.
