Public Affairs Specialist (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Hybrid role requiring 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings, and travel to events across the country. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Support public affairs strategies at local, state, and federal levels.
• Prepare briefings, talking points, presentations, and materials for media engagements, executive appearances, and stakeholder meetings.
• Build relationships with government stakeholders, regulatory bodies, news media, community leaders, and industry partners.
• Support messaging, proactive media relations, and storytelling around public policy, sustainability, and community initiatives.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments affecting electric vehicles, automotive retail, and manufacturing.
• Support direct-to-consumer retail policy initiatives and public affairs work across North Carolina and South Carolina, including government engagement, workforce development, and community partnerships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, government relations, community relations, or a related role.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management, organizational, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Experience working with government entities, economic development organizations, or community groups.
• Ability to represent hirify.global professionally, influence without direct authority, and collaborate across functions.

Nice to have

• Background in manufacturing or automotive sectors.
• Established media, government, community, or industry relationships in the Carolinas or automotive industry.
• Understanding of public policies affecting automotive retail and manufacturing.
