Community Engagement Manager (AI Data Centers)

Location: Austin, Texas; candidates must be based in Texas or willing to relocate there. Hybrid policy requires staff to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with regular travel across the region of up to 50%.

What you will do

• Build sustained relationships with local officials, government agencies, community organizations, economic development partners, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce groups.
• Develop and execute community engagement strategies across data center site selection, pre-development, construction, and ongoing operations.
• Host education and listening sessions, build external coalitions, and design local solutions that provide benefits to surrounding communities.
• Represent Anthropic at public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media engagements.
• Advise Policy, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Communications, Energy, and Sustainability teams on community sentiment, political dynamics, project risks, and local messaging.
• Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, economic development commitments, nonprofit partnerships, and scalable community engagement processes.

Requirements

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or regional government, or a related field.
• Direct experience engaging local governments and diverse community stakeholders on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects.
• Strong relationship-building, coalition-building, written communication, verbal communication, and public representation skills.
• Ability to explain complex operational plans in clear language and manage multiple engagements across different markets independently.
• Based in Texas or willing to relocate there, with readiness to travel regularly across the region.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and professional experience.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of community engagement experience related to data centers, utilities, energy, large-scale industrial infrastructure, or local government.
• Familiarity with local and regional land use, zoning, and permitting processes.
• Experience managing corporate social responsibility programs and relationships with economic development, workforce, or civic organizations.
• Experience collaborating with real estate, legal, communications, and policy teams.
