Community Engagement Manager (Data Centers)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; based in Texas or willing to relocate there. Regular travel across the region, up to 50% of the time. Staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Build sustained relationships with local officials, government agencies, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners.
• Develop and execute community engagement strategies across data center site selection, pre-development, construction, and operations.
• Host education and listening sessions, represent Anthropic at public forums and hearings, and build external coalitions.
• Monitor community sentiment and local political dynamics, advising Policy, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Communications, Energy, and Sustainability teams.
• Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, economic development commitments, and nonprofit partnerships.
• Create a scalable community engagement playbook and repeatable processes for future data center markets.

Requirements

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or regional government, or a related field.
• Direct experience engaging local governments and community stakeholders on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects.
• Strong relationship-building, coalition-building, written communication, verbal communication, and public representation skills.
• Ability to explain complex operational plans in clear language and manage multiple engagements independently.
• Based in Texas or willing to relocate there, with regular regional travel required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of community engagement experience involving data centers, utilities, energy, industrial infrastructure, or local government.
• Familiarity with local and regional land use, zoning, and permitting processes.
• Experience managing corporate social responsibility programs and relationships with economic development, workforce, or civic organizations.
• Experience working with real estate, legal, communications, and policy teams.
