Community Engagement Liaison - West Region (Data Centers)

Location: West Region markets including Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; and Salt Lake City, UT. Candidates must be based within or willing to travel between these markets and dedicate at least three days per week to on-the-ground, in-person community engagement.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary liaison between data center operations and host communities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build relationships with residents, community organizations, local media, business leaders, NGOs, and local government stakeholders.
• Educate communities about data center developments and communicate local benefits, project progress, and opportunities.
• Develop and execute community engagement strategies with development, energy, government affairs, communications, and operations teams.
• Translate technical, engineering, and environmental information into clear public messaging and synthesize feedback into actionable project insights.
• Represent Aligned at community events, public forums, council meetings, public hearings, and open houses while monitoring sentiment and managing engagement workflows.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience in community relations, public affairs, local government, real estate development, or strategic communications.
• Ability to explain complex engineering, environmental, and technical data to non-technical audiences.
• Exceptional public speaking, interpersonal, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
• Experience speaking at town halls, zoning boards, community meetings, and public hearings.
• Ability to synthesize community feedback into strategic insights and navigate sensitive public issues.
• Track record of building alliances with community leaders, neighborhood associations, and business advocacy groups.

Nice to have

• Experience in data centers, energy, or large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience aligning project development with workforce, education, and infrastructure investments.
