Design/Drafting, Specialist (CAD)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Santa Ana Service Center; employees are required to work and reside in California. The position includes set days at an SCE facility and remote work on remaining days. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $41.92–$62.84 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare complex CAD-based designs, scaled work order maps, physical diagrams, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and substation engineers on project scope, alternatives analysis, engineering drawings, and design modifications.
• Determine CAD application, file structure, and project setup requirements.
• Assign projects to contractors, validate labor hours, and review the quality of deliverables.
• Support improvements in design, operations, maintenance, safety, processes, and technology.
• Provide subject-matter expertise, training, mentorship, documentation, testing, and post-development stabilization support.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience preparing and maintaining detailed design drawings, schematics, or specifications.
• Experience using computer-aided design or computer-aided engineering software.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and reside in California.
• Ability to work either a 9/80 alternate schedule or 40 hours across five days per week.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate with planners, engineers, designers, and contractors.

Nice to have

• Experience with Autodesk Utility Design (AUD).
• Experience creating basemaps and understanding utility as-built information.
• Experience in a distribution planning discipline.
