Components Standards, Engineer 2 (Power Systems): Developing and updating design and construction standards for transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure with an accent on safety, wildfire mitigation, reliability, and climate risk. Location: Pomona, California, US; hybrid work with required residence in California. The position requires up to 25% travel throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation does not apply.

Salary: $101,900–$152,800 per year

What you will do

  • Develop and update design and construction standards for transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure.
  • Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, identify installation issues, and implement improvements.
  • Assess system events and equipment failures, perform root cause analyses, and confirm corrective mitigation plans.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, correspondence, documentation, and design plans for increasingly complex projects.
  • Perform power system modeling and analysis, including electrical system sizing, one-line diagrams, and equipment selection.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop technology and standards strategies and move projects through their lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematics field.
  • At least two years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Must work and reside in California unless otherwise noted.

Nice to have

  • Engineering experience in an electric utility.
  • Knowledge of distribution, transmission, or substation systems.
  • Experience developing stakeholder-supported technical solutions and staying current with energy technology and innovation.
