TL;DR

Location: Rochester, New York, United States

Salary: $103,939–$145,800 base salary per year, dependent on experience and location. Sign-on bonus available.

What you will do

  • Analyze complex distributed energy resource and new customer interconnections across multiple distribution-system voltage levels.
  • Develop distribution-system power-flow models for generation and storage interconnection studies using CYME and hirify.global planning guides.
  • Document analyses, interpret data, prepare reports, and present recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review planning and engineering work completed by peer engineers and consultants.
  • Provide technical guidance, lead and mentor engineers, and participate in cross-functional and industry committees.
  • Support distribution-planning improvements and assist with storm-restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electric distribution power systems and planning.
  • Experience with power-system studies, including power flow, DER, voltage, contingency, short-circuit, reliability, resiliency, capacity, and distribution automation analysis.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, regulatory and compliance requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal standards, including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC requirements.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and may be subject to applicable immigration requirements.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Practical experience in planning, operations, engineering design, construction, and field work.
