Engineering Design Tech

Location: Hybrid in Libertyville or Lombard, Illinois, United States. The role may require extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Salary: $76,000–$104,500 per year, plus a 7% annual bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and bills of material for utility infrastructure projects.
• Design and support the installation, removal, and modification of electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas, and telecommunications facilities.
• Perform field engineering and provide designs for internal and external customers.
• Coordinate, track, and monitor electrical requirements for New Business projects.
• Interpret and apply engineering standards, technical memos, regulations, guides, codes, methods, and practices.
• Support customer service, project financial requirements, process evaluation, and safe work practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 0–3 years of technical experience; associate’s degree and 2–5 years of relevant experience; or 5–7 years of technical experience or equivalent education.
• Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test, unless exempt through a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems and apply problem-solving approaches.
• Knowledge of construction, operations, engineering principles, regulations, standards, codes, and practices.
• Proficiency with computer drawing and computer-aided design tools.
• Valid driver’s license and strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
