Senior Planning Specialist

Location: Hybrid position based in California, with reporting to an SCE facility; the primary work location is Wildomar Service Center, and the listed location is Westminster, CA, US. Up to 20% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory may be required. Employees are generally required to work and reside in California.

What you will do

• Conduct long-term grid import planning analyses, transmission interconnection assessments, power flow studies, and economic analyses.
• Develop electrical distribution plans, identify required resources, and provide construction cost estimates and design options.
• Manage large planning and design projects from inception through construction completion, including scope, timing, budget, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform field inspections and verify that planning and development projects comply with approved plans.
• Assess regional distribution system capabilities, reliability targets, planning-criteria compliance, and outage trends.
• Coordinate with internal teams, customers, agencies, and other stakeholders while providing training and workload support.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission, telecommunications design or construction, or an engineering discipline.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Ability to apply engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Experience with work scope, service methods, and overhead/underground construction methods.
• Ability to manage multiple technical or customer projects under shifting priorities and collaborate across teams.
• Proficiency with relevant design, GIS, drafting, wind/pole loading, or utility systems such as SPIDA Calc, Autodesk AUD, cGIS, or SAP is preferred.
