TL;DR

GLO Customs & Compliance Specialist (Global Trade Compliance): Managing customs broker operations and international trade compliance programs across global logistics operations with an accent on import/export regulations, HS classification, customs valuation, and export controls. Focus on resolving customs clearance issues, mitigating compliance risks, improving broker governance, and driving process automation and operational efficiency.

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of 2 days per week in an HPE office.

What you will do

Lead and oversee customs broker operations, regional governance, performance management, and compliance audits.
Develop, implement, and monitor customs and trade compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
Review customs documentation and manage clearance activities, resolving issues to minimize delays and disruptions.
Collaborate with brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, government agencies, logistics, and finance stakeholders.
Monitor international trade regulations, sanctions, and export controls, assessing their operational impact.
Drive risk mitigation, process standardization, automation, UAT testing, reporting, and customs cost optimization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, law, economics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or global logistics.
Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, HS classification, valuation, rules of origin, and trade agreements.
Familiarity with export controls, sanctions compliance, trade risk management, ERP systems, customs tools, and databases.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural collaboration skills; advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Nice to have

Professional certifications in customs or trade compliance.
Experience with SAP.
