Cloud Developer III - Virtualization (Virtualization)

Location: Hybrid, with an expectation of working an average of 2 days per week from an HPE office in the United States

Salary: USD 126,500–240,500 annually in Colorado; USD 136,500–260,500 annually in Massachusetts; USD 120,500–276,500 annually in Texas. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Develop virtualization infrastructure software for hybrid cloud solutions.
• Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot software systems for virtual compute, storage, workload isolation, and scheduling.
• Analyze feature specifications, integrate delivered features, and create test plans and technical documentation.
• Partner with architects and engineering leadership on product roadmaps and technical standards.
• Investigate customer issues, provide root-cause analysis, and support risk-mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations teams to understand customer needs and recommend solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience developing software and delivering solutions at scale.
• Expertise in Java, Groovy, or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience with virtualization or container technologies such as KVM, libvirt, QEMU, Kubernetes, Docker, or Podman.
• Experience developing and debugging in Linux kernel or operating-system environments, including storage technologies such as Ceph, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, or GFS2.
• Familiarity with build tools, Git, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, clustering, Agile development, and software quality practices.

Nice to have

• Ruby or Python experience.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Cloud or security certifications such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or CompTIA Security+.
