Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid) - 27718

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, Maryland office; U.S. citizenship required

Salary: $137,510–$195,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex Java-based software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Design and build enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes deployments using Helm and Flux.
• Test, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues while managing multiple deadlines.
• Stay current with emerging software development technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship while contributing hands-on to engineering work.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of software engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience based on education.
• Strong Java development experience with modern frameworks and libraries such as Spring and Guava.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Flux, enterprise APIs, RESTful services, microservices, Linux, and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, and Maven.
• Experience with agile software development and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical lead, mentor, or engineering team manager.
• Current U.S. citizenship required; a current U.S. government security clearance is desired but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud technologies.
• Experience designing custom Kubernetes operators and custom CRDs.
• Programming experience with Go or Python.
• Experience with CI/CD automation, distributed or NoSQL databases, and full-text search engines.
• Familiarity with big data platforms and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub Enterprise.
