Video Desk Associate Producer, NBC News Digital

Location: New York City, United States. Hybrid schedule requiring work from the office a minimum of four days per week; flexible availability for early mornings and weekends is required.

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year.

What you will do

• Acquire, select, edit, publish, and distribute live and on-demand video for NBCNews.com, mobile, and social platforms.
• Monitor incoming feeds, off-air broadcasts, and digital streaming channels to identify compelling and newsworthy moments.
• Edit user-generated videos and raw feeds, adding graphics and context to support reporting.
• Write headlines, captions, and on-screen graphics text, and tag content with relevant editorial metadata.
• Select and edit promotional images and resurface relevant interviews and footage from archives.
• Collaborate with producers and editors across NBC News bureaus while responding quickly to publishing and production issues.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience producing and editing video for digital, social, or mobile platforms.
• Familiarity with nonlinear editing systems such as Avid and Premiere, content management or online publishing systems, and basic photo editing.
• Strong journalistic writing, editorial judgment, AP Style, SEO, headline, and caption-writing skills.
• Knowledge of current events and the ability to identify compelling video, make fast decisions, and react quickly to developing news.
• Strong organization, multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must be willing to work in New York City and attend the office at least four days per week. Work samples are required, and a writing test may be requested.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, storytelling, multimedia creation, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Broadcast news production experience.
• Additional Avid video editing experience.
• Knowledge of NBC News policies, guidelines, and practices.
