Maintenance Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Location: Onsite in Suffolk, Virginia, United States. The role will follow a Monday–Friday daytime schedule for the first 1–2 years, then transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Salary: $63,830–$93,610 annually, plus discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Maintain, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, configure, repair, and replace plant electrical equipment, process instrumentation, and control systems.
• Work with Operations, Engineering, existing site technicians, plant support personnel, and contractors during plant testing, commissioning, startup, and production.
• Support equipment walkdowns, procedure development, training, and resolution of startup and operational issues.
• Maintain equipment records, databases, drawings, and regulatory documentation.
• Recommend tools, equipment, and repair methods that improve safety, reliability, and maintenance efficiency.
• Manage non-hazardous, hazardous, and recyclable waste streams according to RCRA and plant guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of electrical and/or instrumentation experience in an industrial plant, preferably in chemical operations.
• Thorough understanding of P&IDs, loop drawings, electrical drawings, test equipment, measuring instruments, troubleshooting, equipment setup, calibration, and maintenance methods.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, work at heights and in confined spaces, operate a forklift, and use required PPE, including encapsulated suits.
• Ability to meet respiratory protection physical standards and fit-test requirements, complete HAZWOPER training, and serve on the site Emergency Response Team.
• Ability to communicate across departments, follow instructions with minimal supervision, use PCs and Microsoft Office, and perform basic mathematics.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DeltaV distributed control systems.
• Preventive and predictive maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of SAP.
