System Engineer (Automation)

What you will do

• Monitor and maintain automated warehouse systems, including conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, AC/DC motors, servo motors, sensors, and control hardware.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance and use alarms, logs, dashboards, and system data to identify recurring faults.
• Document repairs and maintenance activities in CMMS systems such as Maximo.
• Provide technical escalation, guidance, and hands-on support to maintenance, operations, technicians, and operators during downtime events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least one year of hands-on PLC diagnostics and troubleshooting experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley, without a focus on heavy programming.
• At least one year of experience diagnosing VFD, AC motor, and DC motor issues.
• Hands-on experience with conveyors, vertical lifts, robotics, servo motors, AS/RS, autonomous or semi-autonomous systems, or 480V equipment.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics, log review, and system interaction.
• Ability to work onsite in an active industrial environment, at heights up to 45 feet and in confined spaces; flexible off-shift hours may be required. A valid driver’s license is required.
