Principal Systems/Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Onsite, primarily from an HPE office

What you will do

• Design and develop complex packet-forwarding features for Layer 2 forwarding, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, VPLS, EVPN, and CFM.
• Develop software-system architectures and design methodologies across multiple platforms and organizations.
• Evaluate new technologies, innovations, and development-partner relationships against the technology roadmap.
• Review designs and project activities for compliance with development standards, improving product quality and reducing failure risk.
• Influence architecture and technology decisions with executive leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Typically 15+ years of experience in software systems design and development.
• Strong C/C++ programming and debugging skills.
• Advanced networking knowledge, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, MPLS, VPLS, EVPN, CFM, routing protocols, and Layer 2/3 packet forwarding.
• Experience with software architecture, multi-platform system integration, operating-system internals, algorithms, testing methodologies, debugging, and test plans.
• Mastery of English and the local language, with strong written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.

• Experience with RISC and real-time operating systems.
• Proficiency with test equipment.
