Software Engineer – Wireless Access Point Development (Embedded Wi-Fi)

Location: Onsite at an HPE office in Cupertino or Sunnyvale, California, United States.

Salary: USD 120,500–243,000 annual base salary in California; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and deliver software features for next-generation Wi-Fi access points.
• Develop software, resolve defects, adapt solutions for new hardware platforms, improve performance, and enhance software interfaces.
• Develop and bring up firmware for new 802.11 access point hardware, including platform enablement and early hardware bring-up.
• Partner with data analytics and machine learning teams to enable intelligent and adaptive wireless networking capabilities.
• Collaborate with customers, product managers, hardware teams, development partners, and management to resolve issues and deliver features.
• Identify opportunities for customer value through technical innovation and architectural improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
• 4–6 years of relevant software development experience and experience developing networking devices such as Wi-Fi Access Points. The source also lists 2 years and 3 years of Wi-Fi Access Point development experience.
• Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and programming languages, with strong proficiency in C.
• Deep experience with Linux kernel development and networking protocols.
• Solid understanding of embedded systems, firmware development, hardware/software interaction, and hardware design collaboration.
• Experience with software systems testing methodologies, including test plan development, debugging, and test automation tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a persistent, creative, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating product architectures, design proposals, and technical trade-offs to technical and management audiences.
