Senior Engineer II-Applications (Software/Firmware)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; onsite, 100% inside from 8 AM to 5 PM. Travel within North America and internationally may be required for customer-site debugging, with expected travel of 0%–25%.

What you will do

• Provide technical customer support for SAS/SATA/NVMe protocols, RAID controller embedded firmware, OS drivers, and management software.
• Support PCIe, security, encryption, and storage technologies for datacenter and server products.
• Work with Tier 1 OEMs, ODMs, channel customers, ecosystem partners, and distribution on requirements, design wins, system bring-up, and production ramps.
• Debug, root-cause, document, and resolve complex customer issues with development and cross-functional teams.
• Maintain compatibility lists, software releases, release notes, web postings, knowledge bases, and issue-tracking databases.
• Develop customer documentation and deliver technical training to customers, field application engineers, and sales teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 7.5+ years of directly related experience.
• Strong understanding of PCIe/CXL, NVMe, SAS/SATA, SCSI, and other storage technologies.
• Experience with board-level debugging and bench equipment such as protocol analyzers, exercisers, logic analyzers, and storage or networking test equipment.
• Customer-facing experience with Tier 1 customers, technical presentations, requirements management, and project management processes.
• Strong communication, technical leadership, teamwork, initiative, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work onsite in Houston and collaborate across multiple geographic locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with RISC, MIPS, or ARM-based embedded processors, storage accelerators, server or storage firmware, and device drivers.
• Experience with AI/ML, deep learning, natural language processing, TCP/IP, local area networking, and storage management technologies such as MCTP and BMC.
• Hardware and chip development, high-speed debug equipment, kernel debugging, JTAG, serial ports, or Green Hills Debugger experience.
• Structured programming in C, C++, and Tcl/Tk or another scripting language.
