System Software Engineer (Kernal)

Salary: $130,700–$205,200 USD annually, plus potential bonus and/or equity for candidates in the United States.

What you will do

• Design, develop, optimize, and resolve issues in Windows and Linux drivers and related software products.
• Lead design and development activities across multiple projects involving internal and external software development partners.
• Define and document communication protocols, system states, and feature requirements with firmware and software teams.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers on component integration and interoperability.
• Review designs and project activities against systems guidelines, standards, quality, and risk requirements.
• Mentor junior software engineers and contribute technical expertise to organizational projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7–10 years of professional experience, preferably in Windows or Linux driver development.
• Deep experience with user-mode and kernel-mode device drivers, C programming, and software engineering practices.
• Knowledge of Python, shell scripting, source control with GitHub, bare-metal systems, bootloaders, RTOS concepts, and multithreaded firmware.
• Experience debugging embedded firmware using JTAG and SWD, and working with UART, I2C, and SPI protocols.
• Ability to interpret hardware specifications and schematics and use logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and similar tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-footprint peer-to-peer decentralized systems, security, cryptography, control systems, and fault-tolerant or high-availability system design.
• Wireless protocol stacks, interconnectivity protocols, hardware driver specifications, and novel architectures.
