Associate General Counsel, Patent Prosecution - Medical Devices

Location: North Chicago, IL; Waltham, MA; Irvine, CA; or South San Francisco, CA. Hybrid work model with onsite attendance 3+ days per week.

Salary: $182,000–$346,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop and implement intellectual property strategies for products and product candidates.
• Advise cross-functional R&D and business teams on intellectual property matters.
• Draft, file, and prosecute strategic patent applications worldwide.
• Manage outside counsel supporting patent prosecution activities.
• Challenge and defend patents in inter partes review, opposition, interference, and other post-grant proceedings.
• Conduct prior art searches, analyze third-party patent positions, and perform due diligence for business development.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• State bar admission enabling in-house practice and registration to practice before the USPTO.
• 8+ years of experience practicing patent law as an attorney or patent agent at a law firm or life sciences company.
• Substantial experience with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
• Technical background in medical devices, drug-device combination products, aesthetic products, or pharmaceutical discovery and development.
• Strong legal, analytical, communication, collaboration, people, and complex project management skills.
