Patent Agent (Medical Devices)

Location: Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid work arrangements available

Salary: $145,000–$175,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus

What you will do

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications supporting the Acute Care Technology Division.
• Develop and manage a multifaceted patent portfolio.
• Lead or participate in invention brainstorming and capture sessions with engineers and technical teams.
• Prepare new inventions for review by the intellectual property review committee.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop inventions for patent protection aligned with current and next-generation products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree or higher with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.
• Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and/or computer science or software.
• 3–5 years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, including patent drafting, at a law firm or corporation.
• Experience managing patent portfolios.
• Ability to analyze and communicate complex technologies, with strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
