Staff Frontend Engineer (Angular)

Location: Redwood Shores, California, USA; hybrid, onsite three days per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Candidates must already be based in the Bay Area.

Salary: $240,000–$280,000 annual base salary in California, plus stock options and potential additional compensation.

What you will do

• Own front end technical decisions and architecture across the Angular codebase.
• Set standards for state management, reactive UI patterns, data density, and infrastructure-level front end work.
• Technically lead and mentor the Ukraine-based front end team while remaining hands-on with production code.
• Build reliable dispatch, school, vendor, and maps portals used by districts, transportation vendors, and operations teams.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to turn product direction into shipped systems.
• Identify and implement AI tooling and automation that accelerates front end development.

Requirements

• Senior-plus or Staff-level front end engineering experience with a record of technical leadership.
• Strong hands-on experience with Angular and reactive UI patterns using RxJS or equivalent observables-based architecture.
• Experience building enterprise, data-dense web applications.
• Experience technically leading or mentoring engineers, ideally across a distributed team.
• Genuine interest in AI-driven automation and identifying opportunities to improve engineering velocity.
• Must already be based in the Bay Area and work onsite at headquarters three days per week.

• Experience consolidating a tech lead function shared across multiple people.
• Startup experience and mobile web experience.
• Mobility, logistics, fleet, or operationally complex enterprise software experience.
• Mapping or GPS-related UI experience.
• Experience with Figma-based design collaboration.
