TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Electromechanical Systems): Servicing mechanical testing systems at customer sites through verification, preventive maintenance, repair, and installation, with an accent on electro-mechanical systems, mechanics, electronics, and customer support. Focus on interpreting technical documentation and schematics, maintaining servo-hydraulic systems, and independently managing regional service visits across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Location: Home-based in the Greater Chicago, Illinois to Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, supporting customers across Illinois and Wisconsin; up to 40% overnight travel within the US may be required.

Salary: $35–$38 per hour.

What you will do

  • Travel to customer sites to perform verification, preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Service a wide range of mechanical testing products and related electro-mechanical systems.
  • Support customers across Illinois and Wisconsin while managing a largely autonomous regional schedule.
  • Provide hands-on and classroom training on technical topics when required.
  • Use company-provided vehicles, tools, equipment, laptop, phone, and mobile connectivity to complete field assignments.

Requirements

  • Two- or four-year technical degree from an accredited university, or equivalent military or trade school training.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information, blueprints, and schematics related to materials testing systems.
  • Familiarity with PCs, operating systems, and Windows applications.
  • Strong autonomy, organization, time management, and customer service skills.

  • Previous field service experience.
  • Automation systems experience.
  • Preventive or corrective maintenance experience with servo-hydraulic systems.
  • Materials testing experience.
  • Experience delivering technical hands-on or classroom training.
