Sr. Life Underwriting Specialist (WFG)

Location: Fully remote, anywhere in the Lower 48 United States

Salary: $88,000–$132,000 expected starting range; $88,000–$164,000 national range, annually.

What you will do

• Analyze, select, and classify complex medical and non-medical life insurance applications within delegated underwriting authority.
• Evaluate evidence of insurability and authorize medical examinations, blood profiles, physician reports, interviews, and other underwriting requirements.
• Apply accelerated and fluidless underwriting methods, alternative medical data sources, and risk-based decision-making to determine requirements and risk classes.
• Evaluate financial information, establish insurable interest, and coordinate automatic and facultative reinsurance within treaty terms.
• Interpret electrocardiogram tracings and consult the Medical Director, Chief Underwriter, and other underwriting specialists on complex cases.
• Serve as a referral point and mentor for less experienced underwriters, collaborate with field partners, and contribute to underwriting projects and team goals.

Requirements

• Five years of life underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, non-medical risks, financial underwriting, and life insurance products.
• Ability to evaluate complex beneficiary situations, foreign risks, financial supplements, and investment life distribution systems.
• Knowledge of reinsurance and ability to work with facultative reinsurance partners.
• Advanced verbal and written communication, negotiation, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Undergraduate study in a medical discipline, marketing, insurance, risk management, economics, finance, or business management is preferred; LOMA Level 1 or related ALMI/ALU studies are also preferred.
