FIB TEM Systems Engineer

What you will do

• Own the technical performance, reliability, qualification, and continuous improvement of assigned semiconductor metrology equipment.
• Plan and execute installation, calibration, qualification, validation, acceptance testing, commissioning, and decommissioning activities.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause investigations across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, controls, software, and automation systems.
• Analyze equipment performance and failure trends, define KPIs, and develop uptime, reliability, and preventive maintenance improvements.
• Coordinate with OEM suppliers and service providers, including service contracts, maintenance execution, and technical issue resolution.
• Lead equipment upgrades, retrofits, lab expansion, and continuous improvement projects while mentoring technicians and junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or chemical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience supporting semiconductor metrology, analytical, or R&D equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, controls, and automation systems.
• Experience with root cause analysis and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Work location: Santa Clara, California; relocation is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with FIB, TEM, SEM, atomic probe tomography, thin-film deposition, or supporting equipment such as chillers, UPS systems, coaters, and scribers.
• Knowledge of SEMI E10, SPC, reliability engineering, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with OEM suppliers, service organizations, project management, data analytics tools, or equipment monitoring systems.
