TL;DR
Principal Technical Director, AI-Enabled Spectrum Dominance (RF Systems and Agentic AI): Leading the technical vision for space-based and terrestrial RF, electronic warfare, radar, and sensing systems while applying agentic AI to hardware design, DSP development, and system integration with an accent on spectrum dominance, space-qualified RF architectures, and AI-driven engineering workflows. Focus on designing complete RF systems across SDR hardware, FPGA/SoC platforms, DSP algorithms, and mission software, automating high-fidelity simulation loops, and productizing advanced R&D capabilities for government and commercial deployment.

Location: Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles, California; or Seattle, Washington. US citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance.

Salary: $225,000–$300,000 USD annually, plus discretionary annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Define the technical roadmap for spectrum dominance programs spanning RF, electronic warfare, radar, sensing, and space-based active and passive systems.
  • Lead the application of the Agentic Computational Engineering platform to RF hardware design, DSP algorithm development, and end-to-end system integration.
  • Direct domain-specific AI agents for electromagnetic simulation, transceiver architecture, waveform design, interference analysis, and signal-chain optimization.
  • Architect RF systems connecting DSP algorithms, software-defined radio hardware, FPGA/SoC platforms, and mission software across space and ground segments.
  • Lead advanced R&D programs from research and prototyping through deployment, productization, and commercialization.
  • Build and mentor multidisciplinary teams of RF engineers, DSP developers, and AI/ML engineers while supporting government proposals and customer opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Direct experience designing, developing, and deploying space-based active or passive RF systems, including experience with radiation hardening, thermal management, power budgets, and long-duration reliability.
  • Deep expertise in complete RF systems, including RF front ends, digital subsystems, communications, electronic warfare, radar, or sensing.
  • Extensive experience with software-defined radio systems, modern transceiver architectures, FPGA/SoC platforms, DSP, and RF machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary hardware, software, RF, FPGA, and AI/ML teams through advanced R&D programs and delivering technical milestones for government customers.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance; US citizenship is required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret / SCI security clearance and experience with DoD or Intelligence Community space-based RF payload programs.
  • Experience with agentic AI, LLM-based design tools, automated simulation frameworks, generative design platforms, or agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or AutoGen.
  • Experience with HFSS, CST, FEKO, or equivalent electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Experience productizing advanced R&D, preparing government proposals, and working with orbit-specific RF considerations such as Doppler compensation, link budgets, anti-jam architectures, and LPI waveforms.
