Systems Engineer IV - Test (Aerospace): Leading integration and testing of rocket motor systems, including test planning, execution, post-test analysis, and SWIL/HWIL test development with an accent on propulsion systems, instrumentation, controls, and safety. Focus on leading complex test campaigns, troubleshooting anomalies, analyzing test data, and coordinating technical reviews with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Location: Reno, Nevada or Folsom, California, United States. Travel to test facilities is required as needed. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government Clearance.

Salary: $119,415–$173,700 USD base salary annually. California range: $125,700–$173,700; Nevada range: $119,415–$165,015.

What you will do

  • Lead integration, preparation, execution, and post-test analysis for rocket motor systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize test plans, procedures, and data collection strategies.
  • Oversee test software and hardware development for Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
  • Lead Test Readiness Reviews and other technical reviews, communicating status, risks, results, and issues to management, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex test anomalies and drive resolution and continuous improvement across test processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Apply systems and controls engineering principles to instrumentation and test systems while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Seven to ten years of hands-on test engineering experience in propulsion, aerospace, or a related industry, including rocket motor integration and testing.
  • Advanced programming proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, Python, and Simulink for test software development, debugging, and optimization.
  • Experience with RS-422, RS-485, and CAN serial communication protocols, DAQ systems, instrumentation, calibration, controls, automation, and high-fidelity simulation.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD and aerospace qualification and acceptance test practices, test planning, execution, data analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government Clearance, and able to meet applicable ITAR and EAR export authorization requirements.
