What you will do

  • Assess new workers’ compensation claims and determine eligibility under Queensland legislation, regulations, and self-insurer guidelines.
  • Investigate unclear liability by gathering evidence, reviewing medical reports, consulting stakeholders, and commissioning independent assessments when required.
  • Review and approve initial PIAWE and weekly compensation calculations, working with payroll to verify earnings data.
  • Communicate claim decisions, rights, obligations, and claim status clearly and empathetically to injured team members, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate claims records and identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the transition of accepted claims to dedicated Case Managers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in workers’ compensation case management, preferably in a self-insured environment.
  • Experience assessing claim eligibility, determining liability, investigating claims, and analysing evidence under applicable legislation and policies.
  • Experience reviewing and approving PIAWE and weekly compensation calculations.
  • Experience collaborating with Case Managers, payroll, legal advisors, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; a health- or business-related qualification or certification is highly desirable.
