Senior Workers Compensation Claims Examiner

Location: Fully remote; supporting California-based claims during business hours aligned with Mountain or Pacific Time zones. Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Salary: $95,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Independently manage complex California workers’ compensation claims from assignment through resolution.
• Investigate claims, evaluate compensability, review coverage and medical documentation, and determine handling strategies.
• Establish and manage reserves based on claim exposure and developments.
• Manage complex indemnity and litigated claims, including settlement negotiations and resolution planning.
• Coordinate with defense counsel, medical providers, employers, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor claim progress, maintain accurate documentation, support return-to-work efforts, and identify fraud, subrogation, and cost-containment opportunities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of direct experience handling California workers’ compensation claims.
• Experience managing indemnity and litigated workers’ compensation claims.
• Current California Adjuster Certification, OSIP/SIP self-insured qualification, or CWCP designation.
• Strong knowledge of California workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and claims-handling practices.
• Experience developing claim resolution strategies and negotiating settlements.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
