Project Manager (Rail Software)

Location: United Kingdom — hybrid/remote

Transport Operations work focused on developing and integrating software products for the rail industry in the UK and internationally.

What you will do

• Own complex software projects from requirements gathering through final validation.
• Define project plans, functional specifications, delivery phases, milestones, budgets, and acceptance criteria.
• Assemble, coordinate, and facilitate cross-functional project teams.
• Manage client needs, stakeholder communication, project reporting, and delivery quality.
• Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate project risks and contingencies.
• Lead change management through impact analysis, usage audits, communication, and methodology adoption.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as an IT, technology, or software project manager.
• Experience managing multiple complex technical projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong financial skills, including project budget management and resource forecasting.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or an equivalent globally recognized project management qualification is essential.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is valued.

Nice to have

• Experience or foundational knowledge of rail processes, transit ticketing data, or payment processing ecosystems.
