Software Development Engineer (Java)

Salary: USD $52.88–$64.90 per hour, plus bonus or incentive opportunities

What you will do

• Build, enhance, modernize, and support the Quote Plant real-time market data platform.
• Develop high-volume, low-latency services supporting equities, options, futures, forex, cryptocurrency, news, and analytics data.
• Own systems through development, modernization, production support, operational excellence, and automation.
• Improve platform resiliency, scalability, observability, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with engineers, technical leads, architects, product owners, quality engineers, and infrastructure partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of software development experience.
• Professional experience with Java, object-oriented programming, software design principles, REST APIs, and web services.
• Experience with Linux or Unix-based environments, relational databases, SQL, and Git.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Austin, Texas.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, event-driven platforms, or messaging technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, or RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, networking, memory management, performance tuning, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting highly available production environments or modernizing legacy C++ applications with Java and distributed systems.
• Experience in financial services, trading technology, or real-time market data systems.
• Experience with AI-enabled applications, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, MCP, Azure AI Services, OpenAI, or AI-assisted development tools.
