Technical Program Manager, Evaluation & Validation (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid

Salary: $214,900–$274,000 per year, plus a competitive equity package.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of cross-team programs spanning simulation, evaluation, and validation.
• Build and manage roadmaps across simulators, datasets, evaluation platforms, and triage workflows.
• Manage dependencies, risks, trade-offs, and escalation paths across complex initiatives.
• Coordinate acceptance criteria and release-gating validation with Autonomy, Science, Release, Product, and Safety teams.
• Run planning, reviews, retrospectives, and progress communication for engineers, partners, and senior leaders.
• Improve tooling, processes, and delivery practices across simulation, evaluation, and validation platforms.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience leading complex, multi-team programs or a strong equivalent record.
• Technical credibility with engineers and scientists working across simulation, evaluation, ML, and validation.
• Ability to reason about data, simulator fidelity, metric design, and their impact on release confidence.
• Strong planning, prioritization, project management, risk management, and dependency management skills.
• Ability to influence without authority and communicate clearly across multiple functions.
• Experience working in ambiguous, safety-critical environments with a data-driven and systems-thinking approach.

Nice to have

• Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or another safety-critical AI/ML program.
• Familiarity with simulation, synthetic data, evaluation harnesses, or ML observability tooling at production scale.
• Working knowledge of SOTIF (ISO 21448), ISO 26262, or other safety standards for validating learned systems.
• An engineering or computer science degree, engineering experience, and familiarity with Jira or similar tools.
