Electrical Engineer, Lead

Location: US-PA-Cheswick (EMD); onsite position

Salary: $120,000–$165,000 per year

Company

Designs, manufactures, tests, and supports critical-function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms, and power conditioning electronics for the United States Navy and commercial nuclear utilities.

What you will do

• Design and analyze electromechanical components and systems for pumps, motors, and generators.
• Lead technical studies, detailed analyses, design activities, and testing for new and modified machine designs.
• Evaluate electromagnetic fields using 2D and 3D electromagnetic finite element analysis tools.
• Create electrical system models covering VFDs, transformers, excitation systems, and control systems.
• Plan and coordinate complex engineering projects, including schedules, manpower, and material estimates.
• Lead experiments, interpret test data, document technical findings, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering required; PhD preferred.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience directly involving rotating equipment.
• Working knowledge of electromagnetic finite element analysis, system modeling, acoustics, or thermal analysis.
• Experience with engineering models and drawings, design reviews, trade studies, and technical presentations.
• Small design-team leadership experience, strong attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Must be a US citizen due to DoD requirements and able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansys Maxwell, Simplorer, Simulink, Mathcad, MATLAB, Flux2D, RMXPRT, or other electric motor and EMFEA design tools.
• PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Electrical design team leadership experience.
