Dynamics Analyst

Location: US-PA-Cheswick (EMD), onsite. US citizenship is required due to DoD requirements, and the role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.

Salary: $76,200–$110,000 per year.

EMD, a Curtiss-Wright business unit, designs, manufactures, tests, and supports critical-function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms, and power-conditioning electronics for the United States Navy and the commercial nuclear utility industry.

What you will do

• Perform structural dynamic and acoustic design and simulations using Finite Element Analysis and other engineering software.
• Analyze vibration, shock, acoustic, seismic, and modal responses of rotating machinery, components, and systems.
• Develop and conduct modal, vibration, noise, and modal impact testing; collect, analyze, and interpret test data.
• Compare test results with predictions and prepare design reports, engineering calculations, technical letters, and test reports.
• Support the design, installation, and testing of new equipment and test facilities.
• Collaborate with integrated design teams while considering customer requirements, project cost, schedules, safety, environmental, and security rules.

Requirements

• US citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least five years of experience in dynamics or shock analysis.
• Experience with B&K Pulse or equivalent data acquisition and analysis software.
• Experience with structural dynamic analysis using ANSYS or an equivalent tool, MATLAB or a similar tool, and Microsoft Office.
• Effective technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills; experience with rotating machinery in defense, nuclear, or power generation is expected.

• Advanced degree focused on Structural Dynamics or Acoustics.
• Boundary Element Modeling and Statistical Energy Analysis experience.
• Advanced dynamic signal processing and analysis experience.
