TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Rotating Equipment): Designing and supporting the manufacture of electrical insulation systems and electro-mechanical components for pumps, motors, and generators with an accent on insulation design, testing, and production problem-solving. Location: US-PA-Cheswick (EMD); onsite work in a manufacturing facility

EMD, a Curtiss-Wright business unit, designs, manufactures, tests, and supports critical-function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms, and power conditioning electronics for the United States Navy and the commercial nuclear utility industry.

What you will do

  • Design electrical insulation systems and electro-mechanical components for pumps, motors, and generators.
  • Work with shop-floor personnel to resolve electrical engineering and production insulation issues.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to design and analyze products for development and production.
  • Assess insulation designs and conduct partial discharge, voltage endurance, and thermal endurance tests.
  • Develop insulation projects, create gauge designs, and evaluate insulation performance and service life.
  • Plan experiments, collect and interpret data, and coordinate technical solutions.

Requirements

  • US citizenship required due to Department of Defense requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • At least 3 years of electrical engineering experience, ideally with rotating equipment and insulation systems.
  • Ability to create documents and reports and present technical information.
  • Working knowledge of electric motor design tools is highly desired; a working background in chemistry is preferred.
