Director, Financial Reporting (Biotech)

Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the office, primarily in the New York City and Boston metro areas. Applicants in the Research Triangle, NC, and San Francisco Bay Area may also be considered; applicants must reside in these locations or be willing to relocate.

Total compensation: $185,500–$232,000 annually, plus equity, benefits, and perks.

What you will do

• Lead preparation of annual US GAAP financial statements, footnotes, disclosures, supporting workpapers, calculations, and tie-outs.
• Manage complex financial close and consolidation processes, including ASC 810 entries, non-routine journal entries, reconciliations, and year-end general ledger preparation.
• Prepare technical accounting analyses and memos, then implement conclusions through calculations, entries, disclosures, accounting policies, and repeatable processes.
• Serve as the day-to-day contact for external auditors, coordinate requests, assemble audit-ready support, and resolve audit findings.
• Support venture fund reporting, capital call and capital transaction accounting, third-party fund administration, and the fund’s annual audit.
• Partner with Legal, Business Development, R&D, and Clinical Operations to account for contracts, licensing, collaborations, and study activity while strengthening controls and finance capabilities.

Requirements

• CPA certification.
• 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for audited US GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and external audit support.
• Technical accounting and complex consolidation experience, including VIEs, noncontrolling interests, ASC 810, financial instruments, liability and equity accounting, share-based compensation, revenue recognition, ASC 820, leases, licensing, capitalized software, and R&D accounting.
• Experience preparing concise technical accounting memoranda, organized audit-ready workpapers, and financial statement support.
• Ability to manage multiple reporting and audit workstreams, work independently at detailed and strategic levels, and challenge auditors, consultants, and stakeholders constructively.
• NetSuite or comparable ERP experience and strong spreadsheet skills.
