Accounting Manager (Biotech)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid

Salary: $120,000–$154,000 base pay per year

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accruals, and financial statements.
• Account for R&D expenses, clinical trial accruals and prepaids, and CRO vendor arrangements in coordination with clinical and operations teams.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting in preparation for SOX compliance and public-company requirements.
• Prepare and maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready financial statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules.
• Manage the Senior Accountant and foster a high-performance accounting environment.
• Manage NetSuite and partner with FP&A on chart of accounts governance, reporting configuration, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or industry experience.
• Biotech or life sciences industry experience required.
• Hands-on proficiency with NetSuite required.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, analytical and organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-changing environment.

Nice to have

• Public-company accounting experience and ownership of monthly close processes under public-company reporting timelines.
• CPA certification.
• Experience with clinical-stage accounting, including CRO accrual methodology and collaboration agreements.
