Director of Technical Accounting

Location: El Segundo, California, United States

Annual salary: $180,000–$200,000, depending on experience, plus benefits and incentive plans.

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical accounting advisor on complex transactions under US GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Research, document, communicate, and implement accounting positions for financing arrangements, strategic partnerships, new product structures, and other non-routine transactions.
• Lead accounting for revenue, debt, warrants, leases, stock-based compensation, equity, EPS, consolidation, foreign operations, fair value, and impairment matters.
• Own and maintain the accounting policy library, including new policies, periodic reviews, approvals, and organization-wide implementation.
• Support 10-K, 10-Q, Form 8-K, financial statement footnotes, MD&A, critical accounting estimates, and external audit requests.
• Oversee related internal controls, improve technical accounting workflows, and mentor accounting staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
• CPA certification required.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with substantial technical accounting and complex transaction analysis experience.
• Expertise in US GAAP, public-company accounting policy frameworks, and SEC filings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex conclusions to leadership, auditors, and the audit committee.
• Experience working cross-functionally and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Big Four public accounting experience, including Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG.
• Industry experience in automotive, EV, technology, or manufacturing at a public company.
• Experience with multinational organizations, foreign subsidiaries, and consolidation.
• Workiva or SAP experience.
• Chinese Mandarin bilingual proficiency.
