Summer 2027 Internship - Mechanical Engineering (Nuclear)

Location: South Bay, Los Angeles, United States

Salary: $30–$40 per hour, plus a monthly housing stipend and overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Design mechanisms and mechanical structures for testing and uranium enrichment applications.
• Support the full product lifecycle from requirements definition and development through qualification and production release.
• Optimize designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
• Test hardware under thermal, vibration, shock, and durability conditions.
• Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations.
• Integrate mechanical designs with electrical, software, manufacturing, and nuclear engineering requirements.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical degree.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical design, prototyping, or analysis of structural or mechanism components.
• Familiarity with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar.
• Exposure to FEA or engineering programming languages such as Python or MATLAB.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
