Principal FPGA Engineer

Location: Onsite in Ashburn, VA; Boston, MA; or Nashua, NH

Salary: $144,100–$192,100 annually, plus bonus

What you will do

• Lead FPGA design projects from concept and architecture through coding, simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, bitstream generation, and validation.
• Develop FPGA architectures and detailed specifications for IP blocks using current FPGA technologies.
• Design digital logic and implement HDL for high-speed, mixed-signal, and embedded applications.
• Verify and validate designs through simulation, hardware testing, board bring-up, debugging, and environmental testing.
• Collaborate with program, systems, electrical, software, test, manufacturing, and component engineering teams from concept through production release.
• Mentor junior FPGA engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
• 10+ years of FPGA hardware development experience, including high-speed, mixed-signal, or embedded applications.
• Strong knowledge of RTL design with SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL, plus simulation, synthesis, and timing closure.
• Hands-on problem-solving and debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related laboratory equipment.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers is preferred.
• US citizenship is mandatory; active security clearance is preferred.

Nice to have

• ModelSim or Questa simulation, Xilinx ISE/Vivado, and AMD/Xilinx, Microchip, or Intel FPGA platforms.
• Experience with Zynq MPSoC, Versal Adaptive SoC, UltraScale+, 7-Series, Libero SoC, or Quartus.
• Embedded processor design, C software development, IP integration, and high-speed serial interfaces.
• Board bring-up, signal integrity, requirements tracking, TCL automation, and FPGA resource or power estimation.
