Senior Electrical Engineer (VPX)

Location: US-NY-East Farmingdale (Peerless); US citizenship required and the position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually.

Design and development of VPX-style embedded computing cards for high-reliability control systems.

What you will do

• Design mixed-signal circuit card assemblies for embedded products, including processors, I/O communications, and FPGA/CPLD programmable logic.
• Own designs independently from concept through production, covering schematic capture, PWB layout, routing, and signal integrity.
• Design and develop automated test fixtures for system-level testing.
• Debug and resolve hardware and firmware issues in new and existing products.
• Provide PWA inputs, views, part lists, specification and source control drawings, customer reports, and technical deliverables.
• Transition designs to manufacturing through complete production design packages and collaborate with mechanical engineering and internal program teams.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering or a similar field, plus 5+ years of relevant circuit board design experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
• Experience designing digital and mixed-signal circuits for embedded systems in high-reliability environments.
• Proficiency with schematic capture, PWB layout, and routing design software.
• Hands-on experience interfacing DSP, FPGA, Flash, and RAM, with a solid understanding of communication protocols.

Nice to have

• Experience with MIL-DTL-23200 requirements.
• Experience writing VHDL code, simulation, debugging, and FPGA design for high-assurance products.
• Experience with the Agile Development Process and the Atlassian Tool Suite.
• Experience with ANSI/VITA VPX standards for circuit card and backplane design.
