Senior Electrical Engineer (VPX Embedded Systems)

Location: US-NY-East Farmingdale (Peerless)

Salary: $95,000–$125,000 per year

Designs and builds VPX-style embedded computing cards for high-reliability control systems.

What you will do

• Design mixed-signal circuit card assemblies with processors, I/O communications, FPGA, and CPLD devices.
• Develop automated test fixtures for system-level testing.
• Debug and resolve hardware and firmware issues in new and existing products.
• Provide PWA inputs, views, and parts lists, and create specification and source-control drawings.
• Prepare customer reports and technical deliverables.
• Transition designs to manufacturing through complete production-ready design packages.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline and 5+ years of relevant circuit board design experience.
• US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance are required.
• Experience designing digital and mixed-signal circuits for embedded systems in high-reliability environments.
• Proficiency with schematic capture, PWB layout, and routing software.
• Hands-on experience interfacing DSP, FPGA, Flash, and RAM, with a solid understanding of communication protocols.

Nice to have

• Experience with MIL-DTL-23200 requirements.
• VHDL coding, simulation, debugging, and FPGA design experience for high-assurance products.
• Experience with Agile development and the Atlassian Tool Suite.
• Experience with ANSI/VITA VPX standards for circuit card and backplane design.
