Software Engineer (Embedded C++)

Location: Sunnyvale, California; hybrid attendance required at least 3 times per week. Travel is expected to be less than 25%. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Salary: $142,000–$215,000 per year, plus potential incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design, document, and implement complex, scalable, low-latency C++ software on Linux-based systems.
• Develop software interfaces connecting the Cruise autonomy stack with vehicle sensors and custom hardware.
• Build reliable software through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and code reviews.
• Collaborate across multiple teams and mentor other developers.
• Deliver complex projects through incremental development.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience writing production-quality software.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience with C++11 or later.
• Knowledge of and experience applying software development best practices.
• English required for collaboration in a global automotive engineering environment.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of production software development experience.
• Experience with embedded Linux, POSIX, embedded build systems such as Buildroot or Yocto, and real-time operating systems such as QNX or VxWorks.
• Experience with cameras, radar, lidar, networking, ROS, or other robotics middleware.
• Experience with safety-critical development in automotive, FDA, or FAA-regulated environments.
• Experience with C, Python, Bash, or Go.
